Marcella Yepa, Pottery, Coil, Polished, Painted, Jemez Handmade, 5"
Description
Marcella Yepa of Jemez Pueblo created this striking hand-coiled pottery vessel using traditional techniques. The rounded body is carved in flowing spiral “melon” ribs and finished with a richly polished red slip that catches the light beautifully. A contrasting neck in warm buff tones features a stepped rim motif, a hallmark of Jemez design, and painted accents that frame the opening. Every line is crisp and balanced, revealing careful carving and expert burnishing. The piece is signed by the artist and meant for decorative display (not for holding water). A fine example of Jemez artistry, it brings movement, color, and cultural elegance to any collection.
