Kirk Smith, Squash Blossom Necklace, Kingman Turquoise, Circa 2000s, 27"
Kirk Smith, Squash Blossom Necklace, Kingman Turquoise, Circa 2000s, 27"
You can always count on a piece of Kirk Smith silver to be filled with wonderful Navajo style. Kirk always knew what look to give his work and he really enjoyed creating those bold pieces. This squash blossom is a wonderful example of his style and is one of those works of wearable art you will treasure forever. He handmade the heavy sterling silver beads and decorated them with deep blue Kingman Turquoise stones. At the bottom of the necklace he placed a large naja filled with turquoise and silver leaves that brings the whole piece together. Kirk finished this necklace with an old style rustic brushed finish, and that is a perfect compliment to this traditional style. We lost Kirk over a decade ago and miss him and his ever evolving jewelry.
