The overlay technique has been perfected by Hopi jewelry makers, and it is recognized as a Hopi style by many collectors. Hopi silversmith Ruben Saufkie does his overlay a little differently. Instead of using two smooth plates of sterling silver, Ruben will sometimes incorporate a tufa cast layer that gives his work an eye-catching texture. Much of his work will incorporate symbols of water, which is essential for life. We don't get many pieces from Ruben. His work is very popular especially with that mirror polished finish, so make sure you add this one to your collection.
