Philander Begay, Tufa Bracelet, Inlay, Inner Beauty, Kokopelli, Navajo, 6
The Kokopelli roams the Four Corners area blessing crops and families. This is the fertility god and plays an important role in Hopi culture. You will find the figure decorated with turquoise, coral and lapis stones, and sitting on an earth textured piece of silver. When you turn the bracelet over you will find it inlaid with more of those stones found in the Kokopelli. This is really a great bracelet that has amazing Four Corner's character and brilliant colors. Navajo artist Philander Begay made this beautiful work of art. Philander is known for his unique pieces. Due to the fact that most of Philander's work draws on his and the Hopi culture I imagine he is quite spiritual. Growing up on a very traditional part of the Navajo Nation and next to Hopi has proven to be the influence for his work. He shares that childhood with us in an interview we have on the site. Make sure you check out the online Trading Post where you will find an excellent selection of Philander's original works.
