Navajo Bracelet, Handmade, Nevada Turquoise, Ingot Silver, Circa 1950s, 7.25 in
In the 1940s many people didn't know about Navajo jewelry. Today we are flooded with information through the internet. Traders in the 1940s are more engaged with educating their customers about turquoise and how the Navajo silversmith worked. Today we look at this amazing cluster cuff and become filled with questions. We immediately wonder who the silversmith was, or where what mine those turquoise stones come from or is this coin silver? Questions that become very difficult to answer. The stones have changed color over the decades from wear and the oils of the skin. No hallmark to identify the maker, but the precision work of someone who had a great amount of experience and talent. What we do know is this bracelet is an incredible piece that reveals a piece of Navajo silver and stone history.
