Thomas Jim, Ring, Applique, Sonoran Rose Turquoise, Navajo Handmade, 9
Gallup, New Mexico was named for David Gallup. He was the paymaster on the southern transcontinental rail route. The laborers would say, “let’s go to Gallup to get paid”. Growing up with the train has always meant we would be a trading town. That continues today and we have people come from all over the world to buy Native American art. They come for pieces like this Thomas Jim ring. A piece that represents the past and future of Navajo silver and turquoise. Thomas uses a gorgeous piece of Sonoran Gold Turquoise for this heavy silver ring. The vibrant stone showcases rich green and blue colors with a web of matrix across the middle. Cut outs surround the rock and fill the comfortable tapering band.
