Jennifer Curtis, Leather Purse, Silver Buttons, Navajo Made, Circa 2000s

Description

This leather purse comes to us from a private collection. It was made by Navajo artist Jennifer Curtis. Her late father Thomas Curtis was just as talented in leather work as silver, and he must have passed that on to Jennifer. The bag is beautifully done with the nice centered design on the flap, plus all of the basket stamp that fills the rest of the purse. What really makes this piece special is the added silver work by Jennifer. She has placed three silver buttons on the flap that compliments the leather perfectly. It doesn’t appear that this purse has been used and is in perfect shape. However, I would suggest whoever becomes the lucky owner to use this daily. What a great way to show your appreciation of handmade arts and Native American creativity.
