Philander Begay, Bracelet, Kingman Turquoise, Yei' bi' Chei', Navajo, 6 1/2"
In the Hopi culture the Kachina lived with the people and would help them make decisions during migration to the Four Corners. The Kachinas would eventually leave the people here alone to make their own decisions. During ceremonies dancers will dress in a Kachina costume to bring back the spirit of the Kachina to help lead again. Navajo artist Philander Begay retells the story of the Kachina dancer on the high Hopi mesas in this magnificent cuff. He designs the piece by carving the design into tufa stone that he collects from the Hopi area. A wonderful way to show your appreciation of Hopi & Navajo cultures.
