Zuni Handmade Turquoise Necklace, Circa 1980s, Needlepoint, Choker, 21"
Zuni Handmade Turquoise Necklace, Circa 1980s, Needlepoint, Choker, 21"
We have an interview with Zuni artist Hugh Bowekaty who gives credit to Douglas Lesansee as the first Zuni artist to make needlepoint art. You will find a variety of needlepoint styles from the very skinny to this wider style. Rich blue pieces of Kingman Turquoise stones radiate against the wonderful patina of sterling silver. The artist handmade the sterling chain which allows you to adjust the length of the necklace, so you get the perfect look. Hanging from the bottom piece are seven two stone dangles that bring everything together.
