Fred Weekoty, Row Bracelet, Castle Dome Turquoise, C. 1960s, Zuni Made, 6 5/8"
The first Zuni silversmiths learned jewelry making from Navajo artists. It would take decades for the Zuni to establish their own style, and those early pieces would take on a Navajo look. Zuni artist Fred Weekoty made this bracelet and you will find that it resembles Navajo work. The circa 1960s creation has a good weight silver, full of stamp work, and takes on that classic row design. A row of Castle Dome Turquoise has been used that shows off a brilliant light blue with hints of matrix. Due to the age of the bracelet it has taken on that incredible patina. Fred also was known for his channel inlay work, that style was all Zuni.
