Edison Sandy Smith, Bracelet, Stamping, Kingman Turquoise, Navajo Handmade, 7”
Navajo silversmith Edison Smith is one of the most interesting people we have visit us here at Perry Null's Trading Post. He talks about how he learned to make silver from a lady at the Santa Fe Indian School, check out the interview we have on our website, and those early pieces where he would grind beads like the Santo Domingo artists. Today is eyes have off and on days, so he does not make as much silver as he once did. This limited production along with his great style has created a demand for his work among collectors. It is very interesting that you have some people come through the Posts' doors and buy whatever you have of his, and others have never heard of him. His work could very much be like that of an artist like Fred Thompson one day, those that know him treasure his quality and style of work and will pay top dollar and others don't recognize the name. This is Edison's classic turquoise style repousse bracelet that has been decorated with his handmade stamps. The stone is an incredible piece of webbed Kingman Turquoise.
