The overlay technique has been perfected by Hopi jewelry makers, and it is recognized as a Hopi style by many collectors. Hopi silversmith Ruben Saufkie does his overlay a little differently. Instead of using two smooth pieces of sterling silver plates he will many times incorporate a tufa cast layer that gives his work an eye-catching texture. Much of his work will incorporate various symbols and symbols of water that's essential for life. This beautiful pendant displays a Sunface design.
