Calvin Martinez, Ring, Sonoran Gold Turquoise, Old Style, Navajo Made, 9 1/4
We get asked how old a piece of Native American jewelry is frequently here at the Trading Post. Stones are one of the things we look at to help us make the guess. During the 1980s and 90s Chinese Turquoise was a stone that you found saturating the market, then 90s and 2000s Kingman Turquoise and Sleeping Beauty was the popular stone, and today we see a number of stones coming from Mexico like Sonoran Gold and Sonoran Rose Turquoise. Navajo silversmith Calvin Martinez has used a collection of stunning Sonoran Gold stones to make this old style ring. He dresses up the bluish green rocks with this amazing silver work that includes twisted wire and drops. The ring finishes with a comfortable wearing stamped ring band and an antique brushed look.
