Freddie Maloney, Squash Blossom Necklace, Sonoran Rose Turquoise, Navajo, 24"
Freddie Maloney, Squash Blossom Necklace, Sonoran Rose Turquoise, Navajo, 24"
What kind of turquoise is that? This is possibly the most frequent question you hear in the Trading Post. You have mines all over the Southwest and a number of mines produce very similar stones, making this a hard question to answer sometimes. One stone you always felt comfortable with was Kingman Turquoise, but now we have Sonoran Rose Turquoise. It is unbelievable how similar the two stones can look. Sonoran Rose has those amazing deep blues, similar matrix patterns, and rich with character. Navajo silversmith Freddie Maloney made this traditional squash blossom necklace using a collection of 24 Sonoran Rose pear shaped cuts. Freddie decorates around the stones with styled beads, twisted wire, and a rustic brushed finish. Everything hangs on sterling silver beads and will give you an amazing looking piece of handmade jewelry.
