Lupe Lovato, Bead Necklace, Shell, Turquoise, Santo Domingo Handmade, 30"
Lupe Lovato, Bead Necklace, Shell, Turquoise, Santo Domingo Handmade, 30"
This necklace is handmade by Santo Domingo artist Lupe Lovato. The Santo Domingo Pueblo is between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, both cities are large Native American art markets. However, the Navajo are big fans of the Santo Domingo style necklaces and have developed a trade system with them that makes it very common to have Santo Domingo artists make the long trip to Gallup, instead of Santa Fe & Albuquerque, to sell their art. This necklace is a fabulous strand of red spiny oyster shell, Kingman Turquoise and lapis.
