Navajo Handmade Bracelet, Fred Harvey Era, C. 1950s, Nevada Turquoise, 6 5/8"
Navajo Handmade Bracelet, Fred Harvey Era, C. 1950s, Nevada Turquoise, 6 5/8"
I believe the reason that Navajo wearable art has had such a rich history is because of the silversmith. Of course some major non-authentic influences have helped it along the way, but even if the art never became commercial it would still be the choice of the local people. Handmade and trade is the life here. This is one of those classic Fred Harvey era creations of the mid 1900s. A piece of American turquoise sits at the center of the easy to wear stamped bracelet. Once you start wearing this piece it will be hard to take it off.
