Calvin Martinez, Bracelet, Sonoran Gold Turquoise, Navajo, 6 1/2"

Description

In the early 1900s you found lots of perfectly shaped stones like you find in this cuff. It is said that the turquoise miners would send the rough turquoise to Germany to have them cut into these calibrated shapes. Germany had early technology and specialized in manufacturing. That all changed with World War II and the supply of turquoise stopped flowing to Germany. Today turquoise miners will send their rough turquoise to Asia for the same process. Navajo silversmith Calvin Martinez has taken perfectly matched and shaped Sonoran Gold Turquoise stones and set them in a classic row pattern. You will find Calvin's legendary stamp work on each end.
