Leekya Deyuse, Fox Turquoise Carved Leaf, Circa 1950s, Zuni

Zuni artist Robert Leekya brought this incredible carved leaf into the Trading Post. He said it had been in his father's tool box as long as he can remember. His father is Leekya Deyuse, maybe the most famous Zuni artist of all-time. It meant it spent all those years in the toolbox because it had broken into three pieces. Robert put the Fox Turquoise leaf back together, and then polished the stone making the crack lines as faint as possible. An incredible carving that can be used as decoration or turned into a piece of jewelry. Who knows what Leekya was going to do with the leaf before it broke? The piece comes with a picture of Robert holding the leaf and a letter of authenticity.
