When you see a Mallard take off from a body of water you are always impressed by the beauty of this bird and the size. Zuni artist Harlan Coonsis has recreated the spectacular creature using a combination of Sleeping Beauty Turquoise, variscite and shells. Like all of Harlan's work he gives the inlay design realistic features by using lots of etch work and building an appropriate style surrounding, like the lake in mountains in the background. The piece is made to be worn as either a pin or pendant and you can not imagine how good it looks on, unless you already have some of his work. Harlan uses excellent craftsmanship so the Mallard is meant to last forever, something you can pass to the next generation of Native American art enthusiast.
