Allunite comes from Utah and can be very diverse in its look. You can find this material in white, gray, yellowish gary, reddish gray, and yellowish white. As well as all of the different colors the mineral can range from transparent to semitransparent.
Allunite - Zuni Fetish Carving MaterialYou find the mineral in classic Nevada mining country. The big and dry desert mountains found in the southwestern part of the state. Just a little over 100 miles north of St. George, Utah. Many times you will find the mineral has that earthy feel that you get from a dull clay like texture.
You will not find this mineral in abundance in relation to Zuni fetishes. So, if you collect your pieces by material this is a neat one to have in the collection. A google search revealed a very limited selection of Allunite Zuni fetish carvings.
